I don't know how this would work as a plugin, but it's for the back end. The Jooml css editor has no line numbers, but Firebug and other tools do. Forums and helpdesks can also refer to line numbers. It sure would make it easier to find a referenced problem if there was a plugin to give the Joomla css editor line numbers. I'm surprised they didn't think of it.
